History of the 44 Merwin & Hulbert Cartridge: The 44 Merwin & Hulbert Cartridge was introduce around 1882 by Winchester for the Merwin & Herbert revolver and the cartridge was discontinued in 1916, however Union Metallic Cartridge Company also produced this caliber.
